Welcome to Camping de Courte Vallée
Welcome to Camping de Courte Vallée, our British owned and run site in the valley of the River Thouet, within walking distance of the medieval town of Airvault. The campsite, set in 10 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds close to the River Thouet, offers well-maintained facilities and a warm and friendly atmosphere, enabling you to relax and enjoy your holiday in comfort. Situated in the unspoilt heart of rural France, and off the main tourist track, we are nonetheless surrounded by an enormous variety of things to see and do. The region is steeped in history and, being on the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela, there are many fascinating relics and monuments to discover. Click on the pictures in our Photo Gallery to read more.
OPEN 24th MARCH 2012 - 27th OCTOBER 2012
For those of you with gastronomy in mind, there are a large number of local restaurants to suit all occasions. There are also plentiful opportunities to savour local specialities of Loire and Thouarsais wines, as well as the numerous varieties of goats cheese particular to the area. The pace of life is slow here – you can unwind and relax in the tranquillity of this beautiful river valley that is a haven for bird and wildlife. Walking and cycling routes along quiet country lanes are in abundance and are an ideal way in which to explore the many picturesque villages in the surrounding countryside. One of the Grande Randonees (long distance footpaths) of France, GR 36, runs past the entrance to the camp site.
From May to September we have weekly wine tastings (on and off site) and regular barbecues, speciality food evenings, buffet suppers, musical soirees and quiz nights. We also regularly run Race Nights, proceeds of which are donated to charity. During the summer months the Airvault Tourist Office organise guided bike rides around the local countryside, departing from the camp site. They also take our guests on escorted canoe trips along the river Thouet.
